40+ Mouth-Watering, Finger-Licking Low-Carb Foods

Carbs are highly controversial these days, but there's no denying that avoiding carbs prevents blood sugar from soaring. Most of the apprehension around low-carb diet plans is due to the USDA dietary guidelines, which recommend that about half of our calories come from carbohydrates. But, as anyone with diabetes knows, eating that many carbs means you'll need a lot insulin and have a lot of blood glucose variability... So, while I can't speak to how the USDA guidelines work for non-diabetics, I can say with confidence: They do not work for me.

Over the years, after lots of trial and error, I've discovered the only way for me to enjoy carbs, without wreaking havoc on my body, is to strictly limit them. This quote from Dr. Bernstein has become my mantra:

"Big inputs make big mistakes; small inputs make small mistakes."

It's as simple as that. Keep the inputs (carbs) small and any blood glucose spikes will be small, too! So, why not give low-carb a try?
